Green living can be affordable too!

The Edison is the new Green Home design from Eastwood Custom Homes. This stick-built home utilizes an open floor plan, 100 percent efficient heat with individual room thermostats, and other features to create an energy-efficient, affordable ranch style home.

It is built on an R10 insulated slab and is available with or without an attached garage. It utilizes one inch rigid foam and cellulose insulation in the 2X6 exterior walls for a total R value of 26, R 49 insulation in the ceiling, insulated hot water pipes, and compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the home. Purchasers may also include any of a number of different Energy Star appliance packages.

Starting at $77,400, the Edison is one of the few green homes that is also very affordable. “We want to make this a home that anyone can live in and find very comfortable, while also appealing to consumers because of its environmentally conscious attributes,” said Eastwood CEO Bill Clous. “By incorporating everything from low-E windows to compact fluorescent lighting into the design, we’ve been able to keep the cost low to purchase and to own, while keeping the environmental value high.”

The Edison is also available at many of the company’s developments, and can be built on clients’ sites as well.
